Reflecting on 2023: A Year of Impactful Giving

The past year has been nothing short of inspiring as The Parklane Foundation collaborated with three remarkable charities dedicated to supporting those affected by Dementia: Dementia UK, Alzheimer’s Society, and Leeds Hospitals Charity. Together, we proudly raised an incredible £20,000 for each of these organisations, knowing that these funds will significantly bolster their ongoing efforts.

Our year of fundraising commenced with a momentous event—the inaugural Parklane Foundation Dinner in November 2022. It was an evening marked by generosity, where we kick started our fundraising journey by raising £10,000. The night brimmed with influential speakers, touching stories, and a heartfelt celebration of the Parklane Foundation’s impactful work. Entertainment and exquisite cuisine added to the memorable experience.

In March, the excitement continued with The Apprentice Challenge. Teams within The Parklane Group were tasked with a £100 budget to innovate and generate funds creatively. From raffles to Monopoly tournaments and bake sales, the diversity of ideas was remarkable. The collective effort culminated in an impressive total of £7,011—a testament to everyone’s dedication and hard work.

Summer arrived, and we seized the opportunity at Leeds Golf Centre. Our Managing Director embarked on a formidable 72-hole golf challenge supported by a dedicated team. Starting at dawn and finishing with the Yorkshire Muslim Golf Society’s involvement, Naveen completed this arduous task, raising an impressive £15,000 through generous sponsorships and donations.

In July, we hosted the annual Parklane Group Golf Day, bringing together friends, family, partners, and colleagues for a day of sportsmanship and camaraderie. The event, consisting of 18 holes of golf or footgolf followed by a delightful meal, also featured an auction that contributed to The Parklane Foundation, raising £7,500.

August marked a significant collaboration as The Parklane Foundation partnered with Roomzzz Aparthotels for the inaugural Roomzzz Charity Week. Activities ranged from a golden ticket raffle offering a stay at every Roomzzz Aparthotel to entertaining spin-the-wheel sessions, while the highlight was Roomzzz’s generous donation of a full night’s revenue on the busiest Saturday, resulting in an astonishing £38,240 raised.

In addition to these major events, numerous smaller-scale initiatives contributed to our grand total of £80,000. These included bake sales, Naveen’s contribution of homegrown honey sales, themed office days celebrating cultural heritage, and heartfelt donations during Ramadan.

The year 2023 stands as a testament to the Parklane Foundation’s dedication and fundraising by all colleagues, family, supporters and friends. The funds raised will undoubtedly make a substantial difference in the crucial work these charities undertake. As we eagerly anticipate 2024, we aim to build upon this success and continue making a positive difference in our community.

Charities of the Year 2024

Following the successful culmination of our annual Foundation event, we proudly unveiled our selected charities for 2024, centring our focus on the critical issue of homelessness. As a property-centric enterprise, The Parklane Group recognises the profound importance of our corporate social responsibility, particularly in addressing the needs of those who lack the privilege of a secure home.

Building upon our previous approach, we’ve extended our support to three charities this year, encompassing both a nationwide organisation and two local initiatives based in Leeds.

Our first partnership is with Crisis, a nationwide charity dedicated to aiding individuals experiencing homelessness. Crisis operates year-round across 12 locations in the country. Our past collaboration with Crisis involved providing complimentary room nights at our London Stratford Roomzzz Aparthotel, aiding their staff during their winter campaign. Beyond direct assistance, Crisis advocates for systemic changes to address the persistent issue of homelessness.

The second partnership is with a locally run homeless charity in Leeds who The Parklane Foundation have a long history of working together. The work first started when the company founder, Mr Ahmed housed homeless people in his first property back in 1977. St. George’s Crypt stands as a beacon of support for the homeless, vulnerable, and those battling addiction. Their comprehensive services include providing three daily meals, showers, counselling, and a nurturing community atmosphere. With a legacy dating back to the 1930s, they’ve made monumental strides, including the construction of self-contained flats for individuals combating addiction, embodying their unwavering commitment to aiding those in need and helping them reintegrate back into society.

The third partnership is a relatively new working relationship. Simon on the Streets, operates across Leeds, Bradford, and Huddersfield. Their outreach services directly engage with individuals on the streets, ensuring vital support reaches those who might not seek assistance elsewhere. Their tireless efforts span throughout the day and into the night, reaching out to the most vulnerable during the darkest hours.

It brings us immense joy and pride to join forces with these three remarkable charities, each making an indelible impact on the lives of those experiencing homelessness. Through our collective efforts, we aim to drive meaningful change and offer genuine support to these vital causes.
