The Parklane Foundation Supports Talented Young Golfer Invited To World Championships

Successful young Yorkshire golfer, Gabriel Ridgeway, aged seven, is one step closer to competing in the World Championships in USA in August after a donation from The Parklane Foundation, the charity set up by the Parklane Group, owners of Leeds Golf Centre, to support and improve the lives of others.

Following a successful year competing in various youth tournaments, Gabriel has been invited to North Carolina for the prestigious World Championships. The opportunity, although extraordinary, is extremely costly and unexpected by Gabriel’s family, who support his dream whole-heartedly but do not have boundless funds. Just this year, Gabriel’s golfing talent has taken him far: he was named champion at the European Junior Tour; he set a new Wee Wonders course record of shooting a 1 over par 28 at the qualifier event at Leeds Golf Centre; and played at the US Kids European Championships.

Leeds Golf Centre, where Gabriel has been learning the game with the Leadbetter Academy, has decided to donate £500 towards getting Gabriel to North Carolina for the tournament, as well as supporting his development with lessons to polish up his irons before the Championships.

Gabriel and his family have set up a GoFundMe page where they are looking to raise £2,500 for the trip.

Mareli and James Ridgeway, Gabriel’s parents, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to Leeds Golf Centre for all the support they have given Gabriel, getting him one step closer to realising his dream of being a professional golfer. It requires a huge financial and time commitment from us, so any support is greatly appreciated in order to make his dream possible. Gabriel has worked so hard over the last two years training and competing when and wherever possible, which has all led to his invitation to the World Championships in North Carolina, USA. He is very excited about the opportunity to compete against the world’s best 70 golfers and I am sure that he will do us all proud”.

Joe Feather, Academy Manager and PGA Professional at Leeds Golf Centre, added: “Gabriel is an incredibly talented young golfer, his technique and ability are very impressive. However, the thing that impresses us the most is Gabriel’s love and enjoyment of the game and his attitude towards his personal development, which is brilliant to see. He is an incredibly competitive young player, always wanting to better himself. He’s a pleasure to have up at Leeds Golf Centre and we’re committed to helping facilitate his path up through the ranks. With his parents James and Mareli working tirelessly to support him, and a forward-thinking Club behind him, we look forward to seeing how far he can go. We wish Gabriel and the family all the best for the tournament in USA and are delighted to chip in to help them get there!”

Parklane Group Golf Day 2025, A Day to Remember!

The sun was shining, spirits were high, and the stage was set for what turned out to be an unforgettable day at the 2025 Parklane Group Golf Day. From early registration at 9:00 AM to the last bite of BBQ, the entire event was designed to show our appreciation to the incredible corporate guests and partners who help drive our continued success. Whether you were out on the course or joined us later for food and festivities, thank you for making the day so special.

Players warmed up on the practice facilities before the 10:30 AM shotgun start, following a short briefing from the team at Leeds Golf Centre. The competition was good-natured but fierce, and we were thrilled to crown this year’s winning team: Shaan Ahmed, Haaris Ahmed, Ed Clothier, and Sam Davies. A huge congratulations as well to James Henry for his incredible hole-in-one on Hole 13, a standout moment of the day!

As much as the event was about enjoying a day of golf, it was really about bringing together our valued network of partners, colleagues, and friends. After the final hole, everyone gathered for a thank you speech from Hanif, Director of The Parklane Foundation, and Naveen Ahmed, Managing Director of The Parklane Group. Their words reflected our deep appreciation for the relationships that fuel everything we do. We also took a few moments to shine a light on the charitable efforts supported by The Parklane Foundation. Chris from Getting Clean and Jamie from Recovery Runners shared powerful stories during their short speeches, giving us all a glimpse into the impact our support can have. A charity auction followed, with some great prizes up for grabs, all contributing to our 2025 charity partners.

No great gathering is complete without great food and MyLahore delivered in true style. Guests enjoyed a vibrant outdoor BBQ featuring an array of delicious foods, all served up under the summer sun. Laughter, good conversation, and the clink of glasses made for the perfect finish to a truly rewarding day.

From all of us at The Parklane Group and The Parklane Foundation – thank you again to our guests and partners for being part of such a fantastic day. We’re already looking forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better!

Parklane group posts record year With multi-million pound investment

Parklane Group has recorded an 11% increase in turnover on the back of Roomzzz Aparthotel openings in Chester and Nottingham, coupled with a continuing strong performance in the student and professional rental sector.

The Group has revalued owned properties to reflect the current market value, this has seen properties held increase in value to £114m. The Group’s net assets now total £43m as of 30 September 2015, an increase of £27m.

The Parklane Group has been building its business portfolio for over 35 years, being one of the largest private landlords in the Leeds rental market with professional and student property brands, including Parklane Properties, RentInc, Leeds Golf Centre and Roomzzz Aparthotels.

2015 saw the successful launch of the award-winning IconInc brand which is managed by Parklane Properties. A £15m development called ‘The Edge’, which brought luxury student living to Leeds for the first time opening its doors in September 2015. The brand hit the headlines for offering ‘7 star student accommodation’, a phrase coined by The Daily Mail, Telegraph, London Evening Standard and numerous industry and regional press outlets.

The Company is now expanding its offering of high-end student living with two new IconInc developments due to open in September 2017. The Glassworks, IconInc’s second development in Leeds, is valued at £19m and features 154 luxury apartments. Expanding across the North, IconInc will open a new development in the Rope Walk district of Liverpool, The Ascent, a 12 storey high development valued at £24m, including 192 luxury self-catering apartments.

The Roomzzz Aparthotel portfolio also expanded into Chester and Nottingham in 2015 following the success of their existing Aparthotels in Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle. This year will see the Group invest in five new Roomzzz locations throughout the country, including the first Roomzzz to open in London.

Managing Director of Parklane Properties, Naveen Ahmed, said: “2015 was a very big year for the Group with the launch of IconInc and the growth of our Roomzzz offering. We’ve made the decision to re-invest over £35m across our brands in the last year and we intend to continue this ongoing re-investment including supporting our latest venture with the Broadley Group (a Leeds based building maintenance and construction company), with the aim of going above and beyond our success in 2015 whilst continuing to meet the opportunities of growing the business in the coming years.”

Parklane Group is proud to support Park Avenue

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be part of a multi-million pound project – the redevelopment of Park Avenue cricket ground in Bradford.

The site redevelopment will include a brand new eight-lane netting facility where local cricketers can net free of charge, and we’ve signed a three-year agreement to support them with this.

Park Avenue wants to get back on the cricketing map, having previously hosted 306 First Class and 48 List A Matches, thereby establishing itself as a staple venue in the cricketing calendar.

We’re proud to support this redevelopment project which will give Bradford national recognition for using cricket as a positive vehicle for social inclusion.

Andy Dawson, The Yorkshire County Cricket Club Commercial Director, said “We are currently looking for people with a huge passion for cricket in the Yorkshire area to support with funding, ensuring that cricket facilities are accessible for the Bradford community. All funding will be used to ensure the facilities stay open for community use.”

Free access to cricket nets is something that the Parklane Group are delighted to be supporting and the facility will especially benefit the local young people of Bradford.

Naveen Ahmed, the Parklane Group Director, says “This support comes through our Parklane Foundation. The Parklane Group has, at its heart, values which support social inclusion, and I believe becoming a partner of Park Avenue is a fantastic way for The Parklane Group to promote these values.”

Katie Edwards’ Illustrations Bring Roomzzz And The City Of Manchester To Life

For our new Roomzzz Manchester Corn Exchange location, Katie Edwards was commissioned to create unique and inspiring illustrations to fill the aparthotel’s walls with colour.

These illustrations aim to educate guests about the history of Manchester, inspire them to explore the city, and also to give a unique look to Roomzzz Manchester Corn Exchange.

Katie, a screen print artist from the Lake District, created a large mural which picks out significant people, buildings, and events that are associated with Manchester. The art includes images of Rolls Royce, Manchester’s Worker Bee, The National Football Museum, Peter Kay, and Selfridges which are all recognisable icons of the city.

Roomzzz also features individual pieces of art to represent the aparthotel’s USPs. These include “Free As A Bird” which features a cockerel and  an owl which represents Roomzzz bean-to-cup coffee and hot drinks for the early birds and night owls.

“Roomzzz To Swing A Cat” features two cats swinging through the air to show how much room there is in each aparthotel room. And “Your Nest In The Heart Of The City” lets guests know they can make themselves at home after exploring the city all day.

Other individual pieces of art from Katie represent the Grab & Go breakfast, the new gym at Roomzzz Manchester Corn Exchange, and Roomzzz’s Royalty Club.

Construction Begins On Roomzzz York And Newcastle

The Roomzzz portfolio is to be boosted by a further six aparthotels, two more of which are currently under construction. Broadley have begun laying the foundations in Newcastle and York, which are both due to open next year.

Roomzzz Newcastle

Roomzzz Newcastle will be expanding the already existing 14-bed property in the converted Friar House.

The new build will bring a further 74 rooms to the existing offering in the city centre which is only 200m from the main train station in Newcastle.

The plans which are currently in place, propose to link the old with the new and will include shared facilities such as a lounge and coffee zone for those wanting to relax.

Roomzzz Newcastle

One of the striking features of Roomzzz Newcastle will be the views. Some of the upper rooms in the new build will have unprecedented views over the River Tyne.

Roomzzz York

Located on the banks of the River Ouse and the River Foss, and only 10 minutes away from York Train Station, Roomzzz York Aparthotel will arguably be the most picturesque location in our portfolio.

Planning permission has been granted to provide 97 rooms, which will include a penthouse and duplex rooms on the upper floors.

As flooding can be an issue in York, especially with a location on the river banks, Roomzzz and Broadley have been working closely with the Planning Authority and the Environment Agency to provide improved flood defences on the site. The main floors of this hotel will be built 4 meters above ground to avoid risk of flooding – this distance will allow for additional flood water storage so Roomzzz York is protected from any potential flood damage.

Roomzzz York

The rooms at Roomzzz York will be less rectangular than normal and feature longer, more zoned rooms. Guests will also benefit from an on-site gym, and a café and deli in a light atrium space – one of the striking architectural features Roomzzz will include after working tirelessly with the design officers in York. Roomzzz has also been very careful to ensure the hotel blends into the existing environment; a full landscape will feature at the front of the hotel so that it works seamlessly with the river walk.

Work Is Underway At IconInc Lincoln

IconInc has ambitious plans to expand its luxury student accommodation throughout major university cities in the UK, and the 4th location in Lincoln is set to be the most innovative yet.

This has currently been a challenging project to work on but so far, Broadley is progressing on the £20million development which will include 138 luxury apartments.

IconInc Lincoln

The plot of land, on which IconInc Lincoln will stand, is currently home to an old school and a parish. The original facades of these buildings needed to be retained, so they will be incorporated into the new building via glass windows and red brick work. This will create a visually stunning build which is different to all other IconInc accommodation.

One of the most appealing aspects to this build though, is the 7 duplex rooms and penthouses on the upper floors which will have stunning views over the historic cathedral town of Lincoln.

IconInc Lincoln

Other features, alongside the usual offerings in all IconInc accommodation, will be the floating study pods, internal feature slides, a stand-alone cinema, a student amphitheatre. All will be housed in a two storey high common space.

Broadley is currently working on the archaeology of the site after making progress with build and the project is programmed for completion in August 2019.

Annual PLG Golf Day 2023

What a superb day!

Our annual Parklane Group golf day was held on Thursday 6th July. It was a fantastic turnout with over 80 golfers taking to the Wike Ridge course and over 20 players on the footgolf course on The Oaks.

The day teed off with breakfast pastries in the Red Kite restaurant whilst registration took place.

Two of our PGA Pros Ellie Robinson and Joe Feather then took the golfers out to the practice facilities to run some golf clinics. Joe ran clinics working on the short game and Ellie headed out to The Hollies and ran clinics on the long game.

Following a delicious buffet lunch, the golfers prepared for the shot-gun start. All 80 golfers headed out on the Wike Ridge course in the summer sun.

Prizes were up for grabs for nearest the pin and longest drives.

Over 20 people headed out to The Oaks course to play footgolf – it was an hour of lots of fun and laughter!

As the golfers returned to the clubhouse, the fundraising part of the evening commenced. Our auction is always super popular and this year it was no different!

Thanks to all of our supporters and attendees, we raised over £11,000! The funds raised will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Society, Dementia UK and Leeds Hospitals Charity and will have a profound and lasting effect on the individuals and communities we serve.

The atmosphere was full of camaraderie and friendly competition. It was a joy to see everyone enjoying themselves while supporting a common goal.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who supported this fantastic golf day – until next year!

All Hallows Church Food Bank

This year our winter appeal was to collect non-perishable goods to donate to the less fortunate, we did this across The Parklane Group. Due to the current cost of living crisis we thought this would be the most helpful option to the wider community.

The staff collected a large amount of food and the Foundation added to the collected items, we headed down on the 23rd December to deliver the items. The volunteers at All Hallows Church were super grateful for the donations which benefit their members.

When we arrived, their Owls Christmas lunch was in full swing, with lots of their members turning up for their Christmas Dinner, they also offer lunch on Christmas Day which is open to everyone. They offer a range of different events which again, are open to everyone, as they are an all-inclusive church.

Within the church there is Rainbow Junktion, they are on a mission to tackle food poverty, fight food waste and build community. They offer a Café, which is a pay-as-you-feel/ can donation basis and also a food share which is food surplus and bought as many in the community are struggling, this all on non-referral and no judgement basis and again, open to everyone! The café will benefit massively from the donation from The Parklane Foundation.

They also offer weekly and monthly classes from outside organisations to benefit the community including money classes and basic English classes. They have lots of opportunities to volunteer within the church, including in the café and drivers for collecting surplus food.

We were pleased to be able to help those who are less fortunate over the festive period and donate to such an amazing cause.
