A Day of Fun and Togetherness: Family Fun Day

On the sunny afternoon (mostly) of August 13th, the Parklane Group brought colleagues, family, and friends together for an unforgettable Family Fun Day. It was a day filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a wide array of exciting activities that made it an event to remember.

One of the main highlights of the day was the assortment of engaging activities available for everyone to enjoy. From the competitive thrill of footgolf to the wild ride of the bucking bronco, there was something for everyone, regardless of age or interest. Human table football brought a new twist to the classic game, and face painting allowed kids (and the young at heart) to transform into their favourite characters. The bouncy castle added an extra dose of fun, with kids bouncing and playing to their hearts’ content.

But the fun didn’t stop there. The Parklane Group also ensured that everyone’s taste buds were satisfied. A delicious lunch, courtesy of Red Kite, was served, featuring mouth watering pizzas that left everyone craving for more. And for those with a sweet tooth, the retro sweet cart was a delightful treat, offering a nostalgic journey through an array of sugary delights.

What truly made this day special, however, was the sense of togetherness and community spirit that permeated the event. Colleagues mingled with each other’s families, and friends joined in the festivities, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was a chance for everyone to step away from the daily grind, relax, and have fun!

In the end, the Parklane Group’s Family Fun Day was a resounding success, leaving everyone with cherished memories and some with a sugar rush! It waa a lovely

It’s back, The Apprentice Challenge 2023!

It’s back!

Following in the footsteps of our previous year, the departments went head to head to raise the most money across one week for our chosen charities for 22/23 Dementia UK, Alzheimer’s Society and Leeds Hospitals Charity. The teams stepped up the ideas and the competition was on!

We had fundraising across all areas of the business, including Leeds Golf Centre, our Roomzzz locations and our Iconinc sites to name a few. While also running fundraising initiatives centrally from head office. The competition was on!

Our Parklane Properties City Office smashed it out of the park with a total of £1705.70, taking the top spot! They raised the money through two raffles which included a signed Manchester City shirt and a signed Leeds Rhinos shirt, they vinted clothes to generate extra money and also collected general donations. The efforts of the team were definitely reflected in the total amount!

Coming in a close second was Leeds Golf Centre, they were able to use the facilities available to them to raise the money. They had a silent auction with sports memorabilia and also a raffle with some amazing prizes, including lessons, golf buggies and golf balls for the driving range. Joe Feather also raffled off 5 hours worth of lessons, sending this to all his current database, this was so popular Joe offered the prize twice and this brought in a massive £1130, along with the raffle squares and silent action, their grand total was £1,666. A great effort from the Golf Centre.

Third place was HIVE, our maintenance team, they really got stuck in! Down on site they had a bake sale, car boot sale, car wash and a table tennis tournament. They managed to raise a fantastic £930.40, using their initiative to fundraise a massive amount of money. The team should all be super proud!

The other teams also came up with some amazing ideas, our Roomzzz hotels had a summer fete style day, which had stalls such as tombolas and hook a ducks. The central team hosted a Monopoly tournament, which was carried out over the week. Our Iconinc teams were at the residents’ beck and call, they offered to do random acts for a small donation, this included tasks like cleaning their rooms or taking their bins out. They also were making the students smoothies and toasties to help raise money. Parklane Properties Headingley had a raffle which included Live At Leeds tickets, along with other musical goodies. Another Raffle was held by Rentinc for the chance to win a bottomless brunch at SkyLounge at the Hilton. Our Fiance departments raffled off a car parking space in a prime position in the basement car park. Development and Design raffled off a massage and also sold ice cream for the whole of Northgate. Marketing managed to bag a free Haven Holiday and sold raffle tickets for the chance to win the caravan stay. Our HR department teamed up with central Iconinc to make barista style coffee and hot chocolates for a small fee in the office, along with a selection of lovely sweet treats. Alongside this they also held two raffles for The Garden Party Tickets and a table with a £50 bar tab at Chow Down.

Everyone did an amazing job in raising a substantial amount, with this year’s final total being £7011.71. The effort from everyone has been much appreciated. We want to say another massive thank you to all those involved and to everyone who donated! This money means so much to our chosen charities and this is a huge stepping stone in reaching our goal of 60K for 60.

The Grand Opening Of IconInc, The Glassworks

The sun was out, the food was great and the event was fun. The brand new IconInc, The Glassworks officially opened on Tuesday 29th of August and we put on a grand event to celebrate the opening of this £19m, 6 storey, 150 room student living space.

On the day, around 100 business partners and press came from around the country to help us celebrate this great event and it was Councillor Judith Blake, the leader of Leeds City Council, who cut the red ribbon to welcome students in to their new home.

Guests were shown around each of the different room varieties that students will be living in; the Neo, Smart Studio, Elegance Studio and the Grande Apartment. All rooms were dressed to impress and the apartments had a lot of people wishing they could re-live their student days all over again, but this time, in a little more luxury.

Each room is kitted out with an en-suite bathroom, flat screen TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, study space, a 1000 pocket sprung mattress and ample storage space to fit in all the necessities and little luxuries that students at IconInc love.

As well as the rooms, the tour showed guests around the mega kitchens, where students will be able to cook up a variety of meals, followed by the lounges where they can relax after a hard day of studying.

It wasn’t just the living areas that were being showed off though. The Glassworks also features a private cinema with a 9 foot screen, a modern gym with all the latest equipment, a sauna and steam room for weekend pampering sessions and study rooms where groups can practice their presentations. There’s the “Grab and Go” fully equipped pantry, where IconInc residents can pick up their free breakfast every morning and any snacks that take their fancy throughout the day. For students wanting to study away from the library, the specially fitted Mac Zone provides all the facilities for students to surf the web, do research and write essays on the brand new Mac Books.

The tours were followed with a speech by The Parklane Group director, Naveen Ahmed, who told everyone just how much of a journey it had been to get The Glassworks to where it is today.

“We are continuously innovating to further meet the changing needs of students who want to get more from their accommodation than just a living space. We’ve raised the bar even higher with The Glassworks, bringing Leeds students an unparalleled level of luxury, superior quality facilities and stunning interior design like never before.”

It was then time for a BBQ lunch that showed off the outdoor BBQ area next to the slide and glamping pods, something which IconInc has never featured before in any of its accommodation. For dessert, a bar that included freshly cooked waffles, chocolate mousse and cheesecake was on offer for one day only.

Although students won’t be able to enjoy the dessert bar – maybe that’s an idea for the next IconInc apartments! – everything else in this brand new luxury accommodation is now open and we can’t wait for everyone to start enjoying IconInc, The Glassworks!
